In Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, innosecur supports companies in experimenting with and validating their technologies by facilitating access to land, air and aquatic testing environments, as well as specialized equipment.

Whether your company is based in Quebec, elsewhere in Canada or abroad, our goal is to help you find the facilities and conditions needed to test your equipment, assess its performance and continue its development.

Through the Innovation Centre’s infrastructure and its network of partners, innosecur can mobilize different resources according to the needs and characteristics of each project.

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu: a region suited to testing

innosecur’s location offers several opportunities for companies wishing to experiment with their technologies under conditions close to real-world use.

With an Innovation Centre located directly on the grounds of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Airport, the nearby Richelieu River, diverse land environments and Quebec’s climate, the region offers advantages for testing a wide variety of equipment.

These opportunities are complemented by the hub’s specialized facilities and the resources available through its partners.

Land environments

Assess equipment performance under different terrain conditions.

Land experimentation spaces allow for mobility, obstacle-crossing, resistance and onboard-system operation tests.

Autonomous vehicles, robotic platforms, response equipment and detection technologies can be tested on different surfaces, terrain and operational constraints.

Testing conditions are defined according to the technologies’ characteristics and the land that can be made available.

Air environments

An airport environment for experimenting with aerial technologies and related systems.

Located on the grounds of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Airport, near the runways, the Innovation Centre offers a useful setting for companies developing drones, communication systems, radars, and detection and surveillance technologies.

This environment allows for different testing scenarios, including assessing aerial-system performance, communications between equipment and integration of onboard technologies.

Experiments are organized according to infrastructure access, safety conditions and the necessary authorizations.

Aquatic environments

Test technologies on water, underwater and across different environments.

The nearby Richelieu River and other aquatic environments offer experimentation opportunities for companies developing marine, underwater or amphibious equipment.

Amphibious vehicles, surface or underwater drones, surveillance systems and response equipment may require aquatic testing to assess mobility, navigation, communications or resistance to operating conditions.

Experimentation opportunities are assessed according to the equipment, site characteristics and applicable authorizations.

Testing in different climatic conditions

Quebec’s climate is also an advantage for companies wishing to assess the reliability of their technologies under changing temperatures and weather conditions.

From winter cold to summer temperatures, outdoor testing makes it possible to observe equipment behaviour in different operating contexts, particularly for technologies intended for northern or harsh environments.

These experiments can be complemented by environmental testing under controlled conditions, depending on the facilities and equipment available.

Testing tailored to your project

Every technology has different needs. A startup may wish to test an initial prototype, while an SME or large industrial company may seek specific conditions to validate equipment before deployment.

innosecur supports companies in identifying the environments, facilities and resources needed for their tests.

These testing opportunities are available to companies supported by any of innosecur’s three branches: the incubator, the Innovation Centre or the Joint Research Unit. Any company wishing to test or validate a technology may also contact us to explore support opportunities suited to its project.

Depending on the project, tests may use innosecur’s infrastructure or be organized with partners offering complementary facilities and expertise.

Access arrangements are established on a case-by-case basis, according to technical needs, available resources and required authorizations. Fees may apply depending on the project, the equipment and facilities used, and the frequency or duration of testing.
